We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role will deliver high quality financial reporting and business support service to contribute to the delivery of accurate financial reporting on a timely basis, and to assist in the development and review of the control framework and processes. The Staff Accountant will have a keen eye for detail, use their own initiative, and be highly organized.

As a Senior Accountant you will:

  • Provide technical accounting knowledge with determining and implementing key accounting policies and processes
  • Key role in developing the control framework and processes
  • Actively support internal and external audits
  • Own the monthly management reporting package (P/L, B/S and Cashflow) and provide support for group reporting packages
  • Own the payroll accounting process, including partnering with our HR team to review submissions to our payroll provider and preparing payroll ledger journals and B/S reconciliations
  • Process month end journals and prepare accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations in order to meet monthly deadlines
  • Support the Accounts Payable Team and wider Finance Team, assisting with queries and improvements of processes
  • Carry out ad hoc work as required by the VP of Finance and Senior Finance Manager

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience and CPA certification preferred
  • Ability to identify control weaknesses and proactive to suggest and implement improvements where required
  • Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately and meeting deadlines
  • Professional, committed and organized approach to work with a drive for results
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

What's going on with work from home and return to the office?

More and more, people are talking about going back to the workplace and the new normal. At Simply Business, we’re thinking of it as a Better Normal. That means offering our SBers more choice and greater flexibility to work in a way that’s best for their particular job, their teams, and their lives.

We’re shifting to a hybrid working model, so we’ll have employees working virtually and in the office at any given time.

We’re also aware there are times when working together in person is the best way to get things done. We expect our SBers to connect in their hubs (that’s what we call our offices) most likely once every few weeks. That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we expect all SBers and their teams will find the operating rhythm that works best for them.
